In order to work as a nurse in the US, you must possess:
-Current Nursing License in your country of citizenship
-Passport
-Visa authorization
-CGFNS VisaScreen Certificate (Overseas Nurses only)
-Contract of employment provided by GNA
Additionally, all nurses must hold a valid United States Nursing License. A State Board of Nursing issues a United States Nursing License in the state you plan to work. Your home country's board of nursing and a specific state Board of Nursing will administer this process.
Canadian Nurses only: please note that some states recognize Canadian licensure. Click here for list of US states that accept Canadian licensure.
Global Nursing Alliance will provide you with the necessary application to apply for a United States Nursing license. The cost for this application is $300. You are responsible for this cost, which includes fees and mailing costs.
NCLEX-RN Examination
It's not over yet! Once your application has been approved, you must take and pass the National Council License Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). You must complete this process prior to becoming eligible for immigration.
The NCLEX-RN examination is a computerized test consisting of 75 to 250 questions which typically takes 2 - 5 hours to complete. You will be required to study thoroughly and complete practice exams. GNA will provide study materials and practice exams to help you prepare.
You will be responsible to pay the fees for the NCLEX-RN examination. Once you meet all requirements, GNA will reimburse this expense to you after you arrive in the US.
